UAH Voted First in GSC Spring Series Group A Preseason Poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its GSC Volleyball Spring Series Championship preseason poll on Friday, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was voted first overall in the Group A prognostications.
 
The Chargers received three first-place votes for a total of 15 points overall in the vote, followed by Union with two first-place nods and 14 points. Mississippi College (9 points), West Alabama (8 points), and Christian Brothers (4 points) rounded out the poll.
 
West Georgia was voted first overall in the Group B poll.
 
The GSC additionally unveiled its Returning Player Watchlist for the Spring Championship series, which featured 2019 All-GSC honorees senior Abby Brooks and junior Kendall Scharbert.
 
UAH was also represented on the league's Top Newcomers list, as both Gracie McGee (Jonesboro, Ark.) and Paris Morris (Birmingham, Ala.) garnered the distinction.
 
The Chargers have five matches on the 2021 spring schedule, beginning on March 6 at Mississippi College. UAH plays at home for the first time in 2021 on March 10 against Union.
 
The opening rounds of the GSC Spring Championship Series postseason will be played on Friday, March 26 and Saturday, March 27 at host institutions.
 
The Hoover Met Complex will host the Spring Championship Series Semifinals and Finals for volleyball at the Finley Center in Hoover, Alabama. The semifinals will be on Wednesday, March 31, and the final match will be on Thursday, April 1.
