BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its weekly baseball award winners, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by Carson Villalta as both GSC Freshman of the Week and GSC Player of the Week.
 
This is Villalta's first time being honored with a weekly GSC award.
 
A native of Florence, Alabama, Villalta posted a team-high 1.000 slugging percentage with one double and two homers to go along with a roster-best seven RBI in road games against Miles and Mississippi College this past week.
 
Villalta additionally had a .462 batting average (6-for-13) which was second amongst Chargers with at least 10 at-bats. He smacked his first career home run on Tuesday at Miles, before blasting his first collegiate home run in a GSC game on Friday at Mississippi College.
 
UAH looks ahead to a three-game series at Charger Park against Auburn Montgomery, as the Wednesday home game against Miles has been cancelled due to inclement weather.
