UAH enters the tournament as the No. 8 seed and will square off against No. 5 seed Delta State in a single-elimination matchup scheduled for 11 a.m. The Chargers bring momentum into the postseason, having won seven of their last 10 games to close the regular season.

Earlier in the day, the Gulf South Conference announced its 2026 yearly awards, with three Chargers earning recognition. Senior infielder Caleb Mahan was named First Team All-GSC, while junior shortstop Hugh Windle and freshman third baseman Seth Staggs were selected to the Second Team.

Mahan and Staggs have paced UAH offensively throughout the season and enter the postseason ranked among the conference leaders in hitting. Staggs is batting .380, fifth-best in the GSC, and ranks fourth in the league with a .497 on-base percentage. Mahan carries a .370 average, seventh in the conference, and is tied for seventh in stolen bases with 14.

The matchup marks a rematch from late March, when Delta State traveled to Charger Park and swept a three-game series on March 27–28.

With a win on Friday, UAH would advance into the double-elimination portion of the tournament and face West Alabama on Saturday, May 2, at 2:30 p.m.
