HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — The University of Alabama in Huntsville has added Kevin Mitchell to its baseball coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Mitchell joins the Chargers after spending the past two seasons as director of pitching development at Utah Valley. During his tenure, the Wolverines captured their second Western Athletic Conference tournament championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history.
Prior to his time at Utah Valley, Mitchell served as an assistant coach at Summit High School in Breckenridge, Colorado, from 2017-24.
He also coached the Medicine Hat Mavericks of the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) during the summers of 2023 and 2024. In 2024, he was selected to lead the North Division in the WCBL All-Star Game. Mitchell was named the WCBL of the Year in 2023 as head coach of the Medicine Hat Mavericks.
A former player at Rowan College of South Jersey, Mitchell helped the Roadrunners win the 2013 NJCAA national championship. He completed an associate degree in 2013 from Rowan College.
Mitchell graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in sports and recreation management.

The University currently fields teams in 15 sports: women's volleyball, women's and men's cross country, women's and men's soccer, women's and men's basketball, women's and men's indoor track & field, women's and men's outdoor track & field, women's and men's lacrosse, softball and baseball.
The UAH women's volleyball, soccer, basketball, softball, track & field, cross country, baseball, softball and women's lacrosse programs compete in the Gulf South Conference (GSC). UAH men's lacrosse compete as members of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC).
