UAH Lands Five on All-GSC Squad

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference unveiled its yearly women's lacrosse awards on Wednesday, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team was represented by All-GSC honorees Cara Brown, Hailey Gallant, Katie Gerber, Karissa Glover and Darby Smith.
 
This is Gerber's second career All-GSC honor, while Brown, Gallant, Glover and Smith collect their first all-conference award.
 
A native of Germantown, Tennessee, Brown leads the GSC with 64 goals and an NCAA Division II-best 5.33 goals per game, while ranking second on the UAH offense overall with 69 points from an additional five assists. She additionally ranks second on the squad with 48 draw controls.
 
Gallant has been one of the most prolific offensive performers in the nation this season with a GSC-best 93 points on 46 goals and 47 assists, as she carries an average of 7.15 points per game to rank second in NCAA Division II. Gallant also leads the Chargers with 18 caused turnovers and 34 ground balls.
 
Gerber enters the GSC tournament with the third-most points on the Chargers roster with 58 points from 32 goals and 26 assists, while leading the squad with 82 draw controls and ranking second on the team with 31 ground balls.
 
Glover ranks third on the roster with 33 goals in the 2021 season to go along with eight assists for 41 points. She has eclipsed 100 goals in her career this season as well, as she enters the GSC tournament with 101 career tallies.
 
Smith has been a defensive force for the Chargers this season, appearing in all 13 games and helping UAH to a GSC-low 7.30 goals against average. She additionally ranked second on the team with 11 caused turnovers while committing only four turnovers.
 
The Chargers look ahead to the start of the 2021 Gulf South Conference Women's Lacrosse Championships on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Charger Park with a semifinal matchup as the second seed against third-seeded Montevallo.
