BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced their yearly women's lacrosse awards on Thursday and UAH had two players named to the first team with four Chargers earning second team honors. Additionally,
Olivia Rewers was named Freshman of the Year.
The freshman midfielder was named Freshman of the Year after leading the Chargers in goals (44), assists (16) and points (60) in her debut season, a performance that also earned her a spot on the All-GSC First Team. Rewers appeared in 16 of UAH's 17 games, adding 47 draw controls and 26 caused turnovers.
Defender
Sydney Schiavone, who appeared in all 17 games, also earned first-team recognition. Schiavone recorded 19 caused turnovers on the season.
Five Chargers earned second-team recognition. Defender
Talitha Goodman led UAH with 22 caused turnovers and added 28 ground balls in 17 games. Defender
Brenna Bohan paced the team with 29 ground balls and caused 14 turnovers over 16 appearances.
Midfielder
Sarah Cole finished with 27 goals and eight assists in 16 games, while attacker
Ella Rutherford added 21 goals and 17 assists in 17 games. Attacker
Maya Bronson led the team in assists with 21 and also tallied 12 goals.
The UAH women's lacrosse team will play in their first match of the Gulf South Conference Championship on Friday at 2 p.m. against No. 3 seed Lander at the Loretta P. Spencer Sports Complex at John Hunt Park in Huntsville.
