HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team is set to open up play in the first-ever Peach Belt Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship tournament on Wednesday as the No. 2 seed, welcoming third-seeded Lander to Charger Park. The contest is slated for a 2 p.m. start.

Per Peach Belt policy, tickets will be required for admission for entry into the contest and can be purchased by visiting the PBC ticketing website.

The Chargers finished the regular season at 5-7 overall and was 3-3 in conference play, earning the second seed thanks to a goal differential tiebreaker with Lander with whom the Chargers split the regular season meetings. In Greenwood, S.C., back on March 20, it was Lander who prevailed by a 15-14 score in overtime, while the Blue and White were 12-11 winners in the Rocket City on April 10.

In UAH's win at home, the Chargers were led by Brody Phillips offensively as he scored three times while also adding an assist, and Josh Campbell scored the last three of the game for UAH including the game-winner in the final minute of regulation.

Phillips is leading the team on the year on that attacking end of the field, picking up 20 goals and 24 assists to total 44 points, while Luke LeVette has scored a team-high 28 goals to go along with seven assists for 35 points. Campbell is third on the team with 16 goals.

Zak Welsh has been strong for the Chargers in the cage, registering 160 saves on his way to twice earning the PBC Player of the Week award including this week after stopping 16 shots and allowing just two goals to Shorter on Senior Day.

The Bearcats were 6-4 on the season while going 2-2 in conference play with their final two games cancelled.

Adam Mather is the team's top offensive player with 21 goals and 17 assists, while Liam Mackay has seen the majority of minutes in goal for Lander, featuring a 12.29 goals against average and a .522 save percentage.

The winner of Wednesday's game will play the winner of No. 1 seed Montevallo and No. 4 seed Shorter at the site of the highest remaining seed on Saturday.
