UAH to Host Montevallo, Shorter at Spragins Hall

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team will look to pick up two more wins as it welcomes a pair of Gulf South Conference opponents to the Rocket City, taking on in-state rival Montevallo at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday before hosting Shorter at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
 
The Chargers enter the contests at 3-11 (2-7 Gulf South Conference).

UAH is coming off a week that saw the team take on Christian Brothers on Tuesday, Jan. 18, where CBU claimed an 83-76 victory despite a season-high 24-point performance from Selena Pruitt.
 
The Chargers have three players averaging double digits on the season, led by Alexis Woods who is scoring 12.8 per game, and she also leads the squad in rebounding with 7.6 boards per contest. Pruitt is scoring 12.1 per outing with Miajah Bullock rounding out the double figures scorers for UAH with her 10.3 average.
 
Wednesday's opponents come to Huntsville with an 8-11 record overall, and Montevallo is 4-7 in league play while dropping three of its last five contests. Three Falcons are scoring in double figures led by Jordan Jones who is scoring 11.9 points per game.

UAH is 38-32 all-time against the Falcons, winning 12 of the last 14 in the series, and the Chargers bested Montevallo earlier this month by a score of 76-62 on the road.
 
Shorter brings a 2-10 record and is 0-9 in GSC play. The Hawks dropped their most recent contest in a 83-58 setback at Mississippi College on Saturday. SU is averaging 63.3 points per game and Jasmine Gaines is scoring 19.1 per contest to lead Shorter and rank second in the GSC.
 
The Chargers are 15-13 in the all-time series with Shorter, with UAH winning the last six meetings with the most recent being a 76-73 win on the road in Rome, Georgia on Jan. 8, 2022.
