The Chargers go into Friday's contest looking to build off a pair of tough games last weekend that saw them go up against two nationally ranked opponents out of Florida. UAH squared off against No. 23 Saint Leo to open the season on Feb. 11 before taking on No. 11 Tampa two days later.
Â
The UAH offense is led by
Hailey Gallant and
Cara Brown with Gallant tallying five goals and handing out four assists for a total of nine points across the two opening games. Brown is the Chargers top goal scorer after the first pair of contests where she scored six goals and registered an assist to put her point total to seven.
Â
Gallant racked up 103 points in the 2021 season leading the Gulf South Conference in both points per game and assists per game while Brown was the Blue & White's leading goal scorer, netting 66 on the year, and leading the GSC in goals per game.
Â
Friday's meeting will be the second between the two programs and the first at Charger Park.
Â
Rhodes went 14-1 last season including a perfect 5-0 record in Southern Athletic Association play, and the team has been picked to finish first in the SAA this year. The squad returns 9 all-SAA choices from last season including the reigning SAA Attacker of the Year and 2021 IWLCA Second Team All-American Baylee Barker.Â
Â
The two teams met last on Feb. 21, 2021, when Rhodes picked up the victory 17-14 in a neutral site contest in Madison, Ala. UAH midfielder
Isadora Springer scored a season-high five goals in the setback.
