UAH Comes From Behind in Friday Night Victory over MC

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team topped Mississippi College by a final score of 4-2 in Friday night's Gulf South Conference series-opener at Charger Park. UAH improves to 13-19 (6-9 GSC), while MC slides to 12-20 (6-10 GSC).

Carson Villalta led the Chargers offense in the win, posting three of the team's five base hits to go along with two RBI and one walk.

Wells Deloney made his second start on the mound this season on Friday night, as the right-hander worked 6.0 innings with two runs allowed, five hits, and three strikeouts for a no-decision.

Deloney was engaged in a pitchers' duel to start the series-opener with MC's starter Jackson Bridges with neither team scoring through four innings in the game.

Senior Kody Keiser picked up the win in relief on Friday to improve to 2-3 in 2022, as the southpaw tossed the final 3.0 innings with no runs allowed and two strikeouts.

The Choctaws broke through the scoreless with two runs in the top of the fifth, and the visitors would hold the 2-0 advantage through the seventh inning.

Keiser kept the Chargers within striking distance to close out the game, as UAH would take the lead with a four-run rally in the bottom of the eighth highlighted by a two-RBI, go-ahead single by Villalta.

UAH and Mississippi College wrap up the three-game series on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. as part of Military Appreciation Day at Charger Park, presented by Qualis Corporation. Full information regarding Military Appreciation Day.
