Chargers Set for Two Home Contests Hosting Shorter and Lee

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team will play their two final home games of the regular season this week, taking on Shorter Thursday night before welcoming Lee to Huntsville on Saturday for Senior Day. UAH enters Sunday's contest at 5-6, while the Hawks stand at 2-9 and Lee brings a 7-6 record to the Rocket City.

Admission for the game -- and every regular season home game -- is free courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.

The Chargers go into Sunday's contest looking to build off a solid offensive performance last Saturday against Lander, where UAH put up a season-high 19 goals to take home a 19-12 victory over the Bearcats. Katie Williams earned herself the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week after she posted career-highs in goals and points in the win, tallying six goals and adding an assist for a total of seven points. Hailey Gallant also turned in a seven-point performance with four goals of her own and a trio of assists.

Gallant's 1.18 assists per game rank fourth best in the Gulf South Conference while Cara Brown, who leads the Blue & White with 37 goals on the year, averages the second-best goals per game mark across the league, averaging 3.36 per game.
 
Defender Darby Smith has picked up a roster-best 32 ground balls for the Chargers which is the third-best mark in the conference this season while midfielder Katie Gerber's average of 4.82 draw controls per game ranks fourth in the GSC.

Thursday's opponents come to Huntsville with a 2-9 record overall while dropping four of their last five contests, and Shorter is 0-3 in league play. Maria Hansen leads the Hawks in goal scoring with 26 tallies on the season.
 
UAH is 9-0 all-time against SU, winning the last meeting by a 21-3 score.
 
Lee brings a 7-6 record and is 4-0 in GSC play. The Flames defeated Montevallo in their most recent contest in a 14-9 victory at UM on Saturday. The GSC's current leading goal scorer, Dariana Blanton, is the Flames key player as she's registered 46 goals and 14 assists on the season for a total of 60 points. 
 
The Chargers are 7-1 in the all-time series with Lee and UAH has won each of the three matchups that have been played in the Rocket City.
 
Thursday's game is set for a 6 p.m. start while Saturday's Senior Day contest is slated for 2 p.m.
