HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team racked up when the Peach Belt Conference postseason awards were announced on Wednesday as a total of nine different Chargers earned an honor including Co-Freshman of the Year Hunter Coleman and Coach of the Year Connor Doyle.

In addition to Coleman, Jake Schramm, Reid Vender, and Zak Welsh all earned First Team honors, while Ian Arnt, Collin Galinski, Brody Phillips, and Joseph Stuber all landed on the Second Team.

UAH's eight selections to the two teams marked the most for any one team in the league.

Coleman has had a terrific freshman campaign as the faceoff specialist leads the conference is ranked 15th in Division II with a .617 faceoff winning percentage, and he also leads the PBC with 150 faceoffs won. For good measure, he also leads the Chargers with 68 ground balls, and he has scored five times. Earlier this season, he earned a spot on the USILA D2 Team of the Week following a strong performance against North Greenville.

He marks the second straight Charger to earn Freshman of the Year honors after fellow faceoff specialist Silas Herman won the honor last year.

In his second season at the helm of the program, Doyle has guided the team to the single-season record for victories with nine, led the Chargers to an undefeated 5-0 mark in conference play to secure the regular season championship, and has his team hosting the PBC tournament this weekend.

In Schramm's second season in Huntsville, the midfielder has contributed significantly, scoring 17 times while adding 12 assists to rank third on the team with 29 points. He has been especially strong in man-up situations, scoring a team-best five goals.

Vender finished his final regular season in the Blue and White with 18 more goals and nine assists to total 27 points, and he has totaled 53 points for his career from 34 points and 19 assists. He has been especially strong in conference play, scoring 11 of his goals in those five games.

A two-time PBC Player of the Week and three-time member of the USILA D2 Team of the Week, Welsh has been stellar for the Chargers in goal. In PBC games, Welsh has a 6.57 goals against average and a .674 save percentage, and both of those numbers lead the league. Overall on the season, he has stopped 154 shots.

Arnt ranks second on the team with 31 points after scoring 15 times and adding 16 assists during the regular season, and he owns four multi-goal games to his credit including nine points in a non-conference game against North Greenville as he scored three times and picked up six assists on his way to earning PBC Player of the Week honors.

Also turning in a strong freshman year is Galinski, appearing in all 15 games. UAH's leader with 20 caused turnovers, he closed out the regular season in style as he forced five against Lander to earn PBC Player of the Week status and a spot on the USILA D2 Team of the Week, and he has been instrumental in the Chargers holding PBC competition to just 34 goals to lead the league.

Phillips earns his second straight all-PBC nod after leading the Chargers with 36 points thanks to 22 goals and 14 assists. Five of those goals came in one game, and he posted five multi-goal games during the regular season. The senior heads into the postseason with 118 career points from 69 goals and 49 assists.

Stuber completed his final regular season by setting a career-best with 57 ground balls which ranks him sixth in the PBC in ground balls per game with 3.8, and he currently ranks third in UAH history with 122 ground balls for his career.

The Chargers will host the semifinals of the PBC tournament on Friday night, taking on Flagler under the lights at Charger Park. That contest is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
