MONTEVALLO, Ala. | The 2023 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) Women's Volleyball All-South Region Teams were announced Wednesday and the UAH volleyball team had two players earn honors from the region's sports communicators as both Savannah Rutledge and Mary Grace Bundrant earned Second Team honors.

This is the first time that the Chargers have had multiple players earn D2 CCA honors in the same season. The last UAH player to earn the honor was Kendall Scharbert in 2021 when she earned First Team honors. 

Rutledge, the GSC Setter of the Year earned Second Team honors in a season in which she posted 909 total assists in 98 sets. Her 9.28 assists per set average led the conference by over a full assist per set, with the second ranked player in the league having a 7.8 assists per set average. 

The Albertville, Alabama, native had nine matches this season in which she recorded 40 or more assists, while also recording 48 kills, 51 blocks, and 218 digs total.

Mary Grace Bundrant earned Second Team All-South Region at the middle blocker spot after she led the GSC in total blocks and blocks per set. The Cookeville, Tennessee native had 122 blocks on the year for a 1.17 blocks per set average and compiled 131 kills for the year. 

The freshman is the first to ever earn D2 CCA honors for the Chargers posted the highest attack percentage among players with more than 50 kills on the team with a .258 average and 1.26 kills per set. 

The 2023 South All-Region squads featured 14 players from 11 different schools in the South Region, including the GSC, Sunshine State Conference, and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Tampa, Lynn, and UAH each led the way with two selections each.
