Emily McMurry garnered an individual berth to the 2023 NCAA Division II National Championships with an eighth-place finish at the NCAA South Region Championships on Saturday morning with the women's squad finishing eighth in the team standings.

McMurry earns her Nationals berth as one of the top three highest placing runners at the regional not on a Nationals-qualifying team.Â

The Monroe, Ohio, native ran the fastest 6k in program history at a clocking of 21:00.35, which bests the school's previous top mark of 21:16 set by Vicky Winslow at the 2015 NCAA Championships. Her time also is the fastest in the GSC's regional history, as she earns her third All-South Region honor.Â

McMurry now looks ahead to the 2023 NCAA Division II National Championships on Saturday, Nov. 18, in Joplin, Missouri.
