Women's Basketball Hosts West Alabama Sunday Afternoon

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH women's basketball team returns to Kelly Court at Spragins Hall on Sunday at 2 p.m. for a Gulf South Conference matchup against West Alabama.

General admission to all UAH women's basketball regular season home games is free this season, courtesy of Bentley Automotive. Reserved seating is additionally available for purchase online through HomeTown Ticketing.
 
The Chargers enter the Sunday contest with a 1-4 overall record that includes at 0-2 mark in GSC play so far this season, as UAH is coming off a road loss at Auburn Montgomery on Monday.
 
Junior Jesse Jennings has been the leader of the Chargers offense through five games with a team-high 13.4 points per game, with the Pulaski, Tennessee, native shooting 50 percent (19-38) from the field. Jennings went 15-for-16 from the free throw line on Monday, which is the second-most made free throws in a single game in program history.
 
Head coach Andrea Lemmond's young squad continues to gain valuable experience early this year with seven of the top eight in minutes played being freshmen or sophomores. Andie Flatgard has played a roster-high 165 minutes for an average of 33.0 per contest.
 
West Alabama comes into the Rocket City matchup with a 1-5 overall record and a 0-2 mark in GSC play, following a 72-56 loss at Auburn Montgomery on Thursday at home. The Tigers are averaging 59.7 points per game, led by Shayla Golden and Julia Rodriguez at 11.3 points per game apiece.
 
UAH holds an all-time series record of 35-39 against UWA, as the Chargers won the most recent matchup on Jan. 21, 2023 by a score of 71-60 in Huntsville.
 
After Sunday's game, the Chargers look ahead to their first full weekend road trip in GSC play with games at Lee next Friday and Shorter next Sunday.
