Women's Basketball Welcomes Union and CBU for Final 2023-24 Home Contests

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH women's basketball team wraps up its home schedule for the 2023-24 campaign with two Gulf South Conference matchups this week at Spragins Hall against No. 6 Union on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Christian Brothers on Saturday at 2 p.m.

General admission to all UAH women's basketball regular season home games is free this season, courtesy of Bentley Automotive. Reserved seating is additionally available for purchase online through HomeTown Ticketing.

UAH is celebrating both 4.0 Night and NCAA Division II Day as part of Thursday's contests, with Charger student-athletes that achieved a 4.0 in the last year being honored at half time of the men's game.
 
The UAH women's basketball program hosts its Senior Day on Saturday as the team honors Ikia Elam and Olivia Howard prior to the tip-off against CBU.
 
The Chargers remain in the hunt to earn a berth to the GSC tournament, as UAH enters the week 10th in the league standings at 8-15 overall and 7-13 in GSC play. The top eight teams earn berths to the conference tournament quarterfinal round on Tuesday, March 5.
 
UAH's offense features three players in the top 25 in scoring in the GSC this season, including Jesse Jennings (10.3 PPG), Bellah Machen (10.0 PPG) and Haley Nichols (9.8 PPG). Machen leads the way for the Chargers in GSC games with 11.3 points per game, which rates 17th in the league.
 
Freshman Bella White remains one of the top rebounders in the GSC this season with a team-high average of 7.1 boards per game to rank third in the league overall as well as in GSC games. She additionally is fourth on the squad with 8.8 points per game in her first collegiate season.
 
Union comes into Thursday sporting a 24-2 overall record and an 18-2 record in GSC games, after most recently topping Montevallo on Saturday by a score of 73-50. The Bulldogs average 93.5 points per game, led by Macey Lee with 12.9 points per game.
 
Christian Brothers begins the week's slate with a 2-22 overall record and a 2-18 mark in conference contests, following a 71-61 loss to AUM on Saturday. The Buccaneers average 53.0 points per game, guided by Jeremia Montgomery at 13.3 points per contest.
 
UAH holds all-time series records of 2-24 against Union and 21-18 against Christian Brothers.
 
After this weekend's home finale, the Chargers finish off the regular season with a road swing to West Florida next Thursday and nationally-ranked Valdosta State next Saturday.
