BIRMINGHAM, Ala.| Ava McSwain has been named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Tuesday. McSwain previously earned the honor on Dec. 2.

McSwain played a key role in UAH's perfect road weekend, helping the Chargers secure two conference victories away from home to extend their winning streak to nine games and remain undefeated in GSC play at 6–0.

Over the two games, McSwain totaled 38 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and three steals, while shooting an efficient 62.5 percent from the field and knocking down 6 of 8 free throws. She posted a season-high 18 points in Thursday night's win at Mississippi College, then followed it up with 20 points on Saturday, setting a new season high.

McSwain's performance helped UAH continue its strong start to the season, as the Chargers remain a perfect 5–0 at home and sit among the GSC's top teams entering the holiday break.

The Chargers will enjoy the Christmas break before returning to action on Tuesday, Dec. 30, when they host LaGrange at 2 p.m. inside SportsMED Arena at Spragins Hall.
