UAH Volleyball Ranks Second in Preseason Poll as Moyer and Ward Earn Preseason All-GSC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference announced their 2025 Volleyball Coaches Preseason Poll and All-Conference teams on Thursday morning and UAH was represented by Caroline Moyer and Kayla Ward as Preseason All-Conference honorees, while the team ranks second in the Preseason Coaches Poll. 

Moyer was named Preseason All-Conference following the 2024 season in which she ranked second on the UAH roster in kills with 277 (2.8 kills per set) and a .220 attack percentage. Additionally, the Centerville, Ohio, native posted 60 blocks on the season.

Ward earned Preseason All-Conference after being named a First Team All-GSC member last season. The Batesville, Arkansas, native tallied the highest blocks per set average in the GSC with 1.20 blocks per set on 102 total blocks. Ward also had a .409 attack percentage with 148 kills in 2024. 

The GSC also announced their GSC Volleyball Newcomer Watchlist in which three UAH players appeared. Newcomers Sydney Durban, Cooper Garrett, and Carlee Lowry were mentioned in the preseason watchlist. 

The Chargers ranked second in the conference with one first-place vote after a runner-up finish in the GSC tournament and a 26-6 (16-4 GSC) record overall last season. West Florida ranks first in the conference while UAH is followed by Lee, Mississippi College and Valdosta State tied for fourth, Montevallo and Trevecca Nazarene tied for sixth, Union, AUM, West Alabama, and Christian Brothers in the poll.
