The slate of Gulf South Conference matches continues at home for the University of Alabama in Huntsville this week as the Chargers host matches Friday and Saturday.
The Chargers (11-2, 3-1 GSC) begin this week's matches at SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall Friday at 6 p.m. against Mississippi Christian (6-10, 3-2) before hosting a 2 p.m. match on Saturday against West Alabama (17-1, 5-0) which sits atop the GSC standings.

UAH is coming off a 1-1 week with a five-set loss at Trevecca before following up with a 3-0 sweep at home against Montevallo.
In the Chargers' latest match against the Falcons, UAH earned the win with set wins of 25-15, 25-19 and 27-25. Kayla Ward led UAH with 13 kills while the team racked up 47 total while Mary Grace Bundrant and Cooper Garrett each hit eight. Anna Clare Hutto and Garrett led the team in assists with 19 and 18, respectively, while Brooklyn Stiles led UAH with 19 digs.
For the season, UAH leads the conference in kills per set (13.06), blocks per set (2.44) and assists per set (2.44). Individually, Bundrant leads the GSC in blocks per set (1.21) and sits 15th nationally. Kayla Ward leads the team and is second in the GSC in hitting percentage (0.398).
Looking ahead to Friday against Mississippi Christian, the Choctaws are seventh in the conference in assists per set (10.11), fourth for blocks per set (1.85) and seventh in kills per set (11.07). Mississippi Christian is ninth in the conference in hitting percentage (0.131) while the Chargers sit third (0.222).
UAH is 23-8 all-time against the Choctaws, and 7-3 across the last 10 matchups. While the Chargers won the last matchup between the two, 3-0, at home, they split matches against Mississippi Christian last year as the Choctaws won, 3-0, in Mississippi.
West Alabama leads the GSC and is ninth nationally in hitting percentage (0.290) and sits second behind UAH in kills per set (13.00). UAH and the Tigers lead the GSC in opponent hitting percentage with the Tigers allowing a conference-best 0.110 while the Chargers are second with a 0.137.
UAH has won the last 11 matches against West Alabama, including both last season, 3-1 and 3-0. All-time, UAH owns a 50-29 record and a 27-10 home court advantage.
