BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The UAH track and field men's and women's teams turned in a strong showing with multiple event titles, two meet records, and a wave of qualifiers advancing to finals competition.
Notable Performances
- Hekla Magnusdottir set a meet record in the pentathlon shot put (12.13m). The mark also established a new UAH school record and currently ranks No. 10 on the national list.
- Caroline Sanders broke the meet record in the pentathlon long jump (5.74m) and went on to win the pentathlon 800m. Her overall pentathlon score marked a new personal record and NCAA provisional mark.
- Five Chargers claimed event titles on the day: Amiah Murry (200m), Sanders (Pent 800m), Jadlyn Debardlabon (Long Jump), Magnusdottir (Pent Shot Put), and Malik Turner (Men's Long Jump).
- The men's distance medley relay placed second overall in 9:55.50, while the women's DMR secured a third-place finish in 12:12.77.
- In the women's 200m finals, UAH claimed the top two spots, with Murry winning in 24.22 and Deja Hines finishing runner-up in 24.91.
- Wes Egalite led the men's hurdles squad with a runner-up finish in the 60m hurdles (8.09).
- In distance action, Catherine Truemper (5th, 17:59.23) and Cole Robinson (5th, 14:54.06) recorded top-five finishes in the 5000m.
The Chargers return to action for Day 2 of the Gulf South Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 20.
