The UAH men's and women's track & field team competed in the second day of the Gulf South Conference Indoor Championship on Friday at the Birmingham CrossPlex with both teams finishing second in team scoring.
Caroline Sanders brought home both the Most Outstanding Field Performer and Most Outstanding Freshman Performer at the GSC Championships, while
Malik Turner took home Most Outstanding Field Performer on the men's side for the second consecutive year.
Overall, UAH garnered a combined total of 11 All-GSC performances. The Charger women featured five First Team All-GSC honors, while the UAH men's squad recorded two First Team All-GSC performances.
The UAH women's First Team All-GSC performances included
Jadlyn Debardlabon (Long Jump),
Amiah Murry (400m, 200m),
Tamarah Rice (Triple Jump), and
Hekla Magnusdottir (pentathlon).
The Blue & White's Second Team All-GSC performers included Sanders in the triple jump and
Aniya Johnson in the high jump.
On the men's side, the Chargers boasted First Team All-GSC honors by
Malik Turner in the long jump and
Jaiden Young in the 400m. The Blue & White had Second Team All-GSC honors from
Wes Egalite in the 60m hurdles and
Adam Taylor in the 800m.
The Chargers look ahead to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia on March 13th and 14th.
