BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | UAH softball freshman Kylie Ballentine has earned Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week honors, as announced on Tuesday. Ballentine made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut during the Chargers' opening weekend on the road.
A native of Medina, Tennessee, Ballentine appeared in six games, starting all six at second base, and finished the weekend batting .450 with nine hits in 20 at-bats. She scored six runs and drove in three more, while also recording two doubles.
Ballentine helped lead UAH to three wins over Barry, collecting multiple hits in two of the three contests, including a 3-for-4 performance in the series finale on Jan. 31. She also added an RBI double against Nova Southeastern on Feb. 1.
Defensively, Ballentine was flawless in the infield, posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. She recorded 25 putouts over 25 chances and turned one double play from her spot in the infield.
UAH continues play this weekend with five games scheduled, opening the series on Friday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. against Cedarville in Chattanooga.
