HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The UAH women's basketball team will begin NCAA Tournament play on Friday as the top seed in the NCAA Division II South Regional, hosting No. 8 seed Edward Waters at 5 p.m. inside SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall.
The matchup marks the first meeting in program history between UAH and Edward Waters. Information on ticket purchases and viewing options for all NCAA South Regional games can be found through the link below.
2026 NCAA Division II South Region Championships
UAH enters the tournament with a 28-5 overall record, including a 17-1 mark at home, and earned the 2025-26 Gulf South Conference Regular Season Championship. The Chargers also advanced to the GSC Tournament Championship game, falling to Union 65-63 on a last-second shot.
The Chargers are making their fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament and hold a 1-3 all-time record in tournament play. UAH's lone NCAA Tournament victory came in 2013, when the Chargers defeated Tuskegee 78-69.
UAH has earned numerous postseason honors following its historic season. Lili Wilken was named the GSC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, while also earning First Team All-GSC and GSC All-Tournament Team honors. Earlier this week, Wilken was also named the 2026 D2CCA South Region Player of the Year and selected to the D2CCA All-South Region First Team.
Bella White earned Third Team All-GSC honors, while Ivey Maddox was named to the GSC All-Tournament Team.
Head coach Allen Sharpe was also recognized for the Chargers' success this season, earning 2025-26 GSC Coach of the Year honors.
Edward Waters enters the tournament with a 24-5 overall record and is making its first NCAA Tournament appearance at the Division II level. The Lady Tigers finished 21-3 in SIAC play, posted a 12-1 road record, and captured the 2026 SIAC Eastern Division Championship.
Defense has been the foundation of Edward Waters' success this season. The Lady Tigers currently hold the top scoring defense in Division II, allowing just 50.4 points per game. They are also limiting opponents to 32.0 percent shooting from the field and 22.5 percent from three-point range, ranking second and first nationally in those categories.
Several Edward Waters players earned All-SIAC recognition this season. Imani Harris was named First Team All-SIAC and SIAC Newcomer of the Year, while Tan Brown and Shcira Fowles earned Second Team All-SIAC honors. Head coach Eric Jackson Jr. was named SIAC Coach of the Year.
