Women’s Basketball Set to Host First Sweet 16 in Program History

3/15/2026 5:08:00 PM

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Women's Basketball is set for another historic night at SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall as the Chargers host the NCAA Division II South Regional Championship, also known as the Sweet 16, on Monday night.

Top-seeded UAH will face No. 3 seed Eckerd at 7:00 p.m. Information on ticket purchases and viewing options for the Sweet 16 can be found through the link below.

Monday's game marks the first time in program history that UAH has hosted and competed in the South Regional final.

The Chargers advanced to the Sweet 16 after two strong performances to open the regional. UAH defeated No. 8 seed Edward Waters 95-85 in the opening round Friday night before earning a 73-70 victory over Nova Southeastern on Saturday. The win over Nova Southeastern also avenged last season's NCAA Tournament loss, when the Sharks eliminated the Chargers in the first round.

UAH has received balanced scoring throughout the tournament. Lili Wilken, the two-time Gulf South Conference Player of the Year, is averaging 22 points per game through the first two contests.

Millie Brown has also played a major role offensively, averaging 17.5 points per game while knocking down eight three-pointers in the tournament. Close behind her is Ivey Maddox, who has delivered several key shots late in both games and has made seven three-pointers through the first two rounds.

Bella White has also been effective offensively, converting 12 of her 14 free-throw attempts in the tournament.

The matchup features two conference regular-season champions. UAH captured the Gulf South Conference regular-season title, while Eckerd won the Sunshine State Conference regular-season championship.

Eckerd entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 3 seed in the South Region and is making its second Sweet 16 appearance in program history.

The Tritons defeated fellow Sunshine State Conference member Embry-Riddle 85-69 in the opening round before pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the regional with a 65-38 victory over No. 2 seed Union on Saturday. In that game, Eckerd held Union to just 20 percent shooting from the field and 7-of-39 from three-point range.

Eckerd is led by Ieva Korzane, who is averaging 28.5 points per game through the first two rounds and has already knocked down seven three-pointers in the tournament.

Emma Egan has also been a key contributor, averaging 16.0 points per game and recording a double-double against Embry-Riddle, while Lisa Michaelsen is averaging 15.5 points per game and has also made seven three-pointers during the regional.

The winner of Monday night's contest will advance to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight, which begins March 24 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
