BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced their women's lacrosse weekly awards on Tuesday and UAH's
Brooke Denny was named the Defensive Player of the Week and
Kate Simoncic claimed Freshman of the Week honors. Both awards are the first of each player's career.
Denny turned in a strong performance in goal to help the Chargers post a 1-0 week. The freshman made six saves on 17 shots faced in a 14-6 win at Lander, while also collecting two ground balls and causing one turnover in the contest.
Simoncic tallied four points over the weekend to help UAH remain unbeaten in GSC play. The freshman tied for the team-high with three goals and added an assist in the Chargers' victory over Lander. She also contributed one ground ball, one caused turnover and two draw controls in the win.
The No. 23 ranked Chargers will face off with No. 1 Flagler on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. to decide the regular season GSC title and who will receive the top seed in the GSC Championships.
