BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Wednesday and UAH's
Amiah Murry and
Hekla Magnusdottir garnered weekly honors.
Murry earned the Women's Track Athlete of the Week honor for the second time this season after posting school records in both the 200m and 400m at the Joe Walker Invite. The junior posted a time of 23.40 to finish third in the 200m before winning the 400m with a time of 52.65. Both finishes represented new personal-bests and NCAA provisional qualifying marks. Murry currently ranks first in the GSC in both events, and sits second in Division II in the 400m and sixth nationally in the 200m.
Magnusdottir earned the Women's Field Athlete of the Week and Freshman of the Week award following her performance in the Heptathlon at the Joe Walker Invite, where she finished fourth among Division I competition. The freshman recorded 4,902 points which marked a personal-best, school record and NCAA provisional qualifying mark and now leads the GSC in the event.
