UAH Set For Battle With No. 28 Harding

LIVE STATS | WATCH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team (2-6) travels to Searcy, Ark., for a four-game series with former Gulf South Conference member No. 28 Harding (3-0). The two teams will play a pair of seven-inning doubleheaders on Sunday, Feb. 19, and Monday, Feb. 20, at Jerry Moore Field with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. CST and noon CST, respectively.

UAH enters the weekend looking to snap a five-game losing streak after dropping a midweek game to Martin Methodist, 3-1, in the squad's home opener. The Chargers bright spot in the five-game losing streak came in the third game against Lynn when senior Grant DeBruin hit for the first documented cycle in UAH history.

DeBruin has led the team this season from the plate, batting .387 with three home runs, a double, a triple and eight RBI while boasting a .774 slugging percentage. Also performing well, sophomore Justin Riddle is hitting a team-high .458 and has scored four runs.

Junior Dana Wright, despite earning a no decision in his two starts, carries a team-best 2.08 ERA on the hill in 13.0 innings of work. Wright has fanned 15 batters this season while walking just two.

Harding has played just three games this season, sweeping three games against Maryville and outscoring its opponent 14-2 over the three contests. The Bisons were led on the weekend by Gabe Fyock who hit .444 while tallying four RBI and scoring one run. In just three games, Harding has successfully swiped 7-of-11 bases. As a team, the Bisons are hitting just .273 but are holding opponents to a lowly .129 at the plate.

UAH leads the all-time series between the two programs by a slim 11-10 margin but has dropped five of the last eight meetings. Last season, in Harding's final year in the league, the Bisons helped knock UAH out of the conference tournament by a score of 4-2 after the squads split the regular season meetings. UAH carries an all-time record of 2-4 when facing Harding in Searcy.

After this weekend, UAH returns home for eight consecutive games. The Chargers begin the homestand by welcoming Stillman for a three-game series on Feb. 25-26 at Charger Park.
