Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GAME ONE BOX SCORE | GAME TWO BOX SCORE

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team (10-12, 3-2 GSC) clinched its first Gulf South Conference series victory Saturday as the Chargers grabbed two wins on the road over the Christian Brothers (6-12, 0-5). UAH claimed game one of the three-game series at Buc Field by a score of 7-3 before blanking the Bucs in game two, 5-0.

UAH and Christian Brothers return to the diamond Sunday for game three of the series, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.

GAME ONE

Using a late-inning rally after being down 3-1 through four innings, the Chargers came away with four runs in the seventh frame en route to a 7-3 victory over the Bucs.

UAH got on the board first in the top of the first inning after Justin Pearson legged out a leadoff double, and then scored on an Eric Deese single to right field. The 1-0 lead didn't last long as CBU crossed two runs in the second inning and another in the fourth to take a 3-1 advantage.

The Chargers cut into the deficit in the fifth frame with a run as Deese was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, making the score 3-2 in the Bucs favor.

UAH rallied in the seventh, however, plating four runs to take a 6-3 lead – one that it wouldn't relinquish. In the seventh frame, three consecutive singles loaded the bases with just one out. Ty Chancelor then reached on a fielder's choice which scored a run, then doubles by Vincent Kortbawi and Mike Love plated two runs and one run each, respectively.

The Chargers added another insurance run in the eighth on a passed ball to lead 7-3.

Drew Eiland (2-2) was magnificent on the hill for UAH in picking up his second victory of the year. Eiland worked 8.0 innings, allowing three runs – two earned – on eight hits while striking out six and walking none.

CBU's Alex Sikes (2-1) was handed his first loss of the year after working 6.2 innings, allowing six runs on eight hits though he did fan six batters.

GAME TWO

More late-inning heroics won the second game for UAH as the Chargers plated three runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh, and final inning, to blank CBU 5-0. The shutout is the second for UAH this season.

Picking up the shutout victory for UAH was Dana Wright (2-1) who hurled the complete 7.0 inning game, allowing just five hits while striking out five and walking two. The Bucs' Braden Keathley (1-3) worked 5.2 innings in the loss, allowing three runs – one earned – on five hits and three walks while striking out three.

With the game still scoreless through five innings, UAH broke the game open with three runs in the top of the sixth inning. With two outs, and Ty Chancelor on first after walking, Mike Love ripped a single through the left side to put runners on first and second. Chancelor then scored off a Chandler Brock single. Tyrone Smith then reached on a fielding error by the CBU shortstop which also scored Chandler and Brock.

The Chargers plated two more runs in the top of the seventh to put the Bucs away en route to the 5-0 victory.
