HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – University of Alabama in Huntsville head women's basketball coach Roy Heintz has announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2012-13 season.
Joining the Lady Chargers next season will be guard Halle Jarnagin and forward Sara Jarnagin, twins from Brentwood, Tenn. They become the second set of twins signed with UAH this season, as the Jarnagins join twins Dina and Josi Saunders (Huntsville, Ala.) in the 2012-13 class.
The Jarnagin sisters sign with UAH after helping lead Brentwood High School to a second straight District title and a Regional runner-up finish with a record of 25-6 last year.
Halle, a diverse 6-2 student-athlete that can play both the guard and forward positions. She was tabbed an All-Region performer as a junior and senior and All-District player the past three years. As a junior, she led the team at the free-throw line, sinking 76 percent from the charity stripe. Halle averaged 14.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 3.1 steals per game for coach Ron Seiginthaler's squad. She connected on 59 percent from the field, 49 percent from beyond the arc and 81 percent at the free-throw line.
Sara signs with UAH as a 6-2 forward. Last season, she averaged 6.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, while shooting at a 56 percent clip from the field to earn All-District honors as a senior.
Halle and Sara also excel off the court, standing in the top 10 percent of their class in academics. They were both members of the National Honor Society and completed numerous AP course throughout high school. The twin sisters are the daughters of Barry and Patty Jarnagin.
