HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – With hopes of getting back to their winning ways, the University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team will play host to Tuskegee tomorrow evening for a nonconference midweek game at 5:30 p.m.
UAH (20-6) has dropped three of their last four, but prior to that had won eight in a row, including GSC series' sweeps of Valdosta State and Christian Brothers. The Chargers will face Tuskegee, two days after the game was newly scheduled.
The Chargers sit atop the Gulf South Conference in multiple offensive categories, including hits, doubles, runs, triples, home runs and stolen bases. The pitching staff is currently fourth in the league with a 3.66 ERA.
Three players are still hitting over .400 this season, with
Chandler Brock (.436),
Chase Handley (.417) and
Jud Sherrill (.410) all over the .400 mark. Those three batters are also ranked in the top five of the GSC.
With a huge weekend series looming, UAH will look to gain some quick momentum heading into this weekend's showdown with No. 1-ranked Delta State.
Meanwhile, Tuskegee comes to Huntsville with a record of 8-10, having most recently taken two out of three games from Stillman. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
