UAH Travels to Trevecca Nazarene on Tuesday

LAST WEEKEND: The Chargers split their two weekend matches, falling to No. 21 West Florida on Friday and winning over West Georgia on Saturday. UAH is currently tied for the fifth spot with Christian Brothers in the Gulf South Conference standings.
 
SWEET SWINGING: Freshman Anna Claire Johnson had a stellar performance on the court, totaling 36 kills over three games. Johnson started off the week with a season-high 22 kills to go along with 13 digs against Union for a double-double, her sixth of the season. The Birmingham, Alabama native combined for 14 kills and 11 digs against West Florida and West Georgia over the weekend. Johnson currently leads UAH with 180 kills and is ninth in the conference in kills per set at 2.81.
 
DEFENSIVE SUCCESS: Junior Kennedie Lariscy leads the Chargers' defense with 236 digs this season, the third time in her career to accumulate 200 digs or more in a season. Lariscy had a season-high 20 digs in the weekend finale at West Georgia, while also registering one service ace and one assist. Over the week, Lariscy averaged 3.7 digs per set. She is currently ranked fifth in the GSC with 3.75 digs per set and overall digs at 236.
 
FINDING A GROOVE: Senior Ashton Baker had a successful week averaging 10.11 assists per set over three games. Baker's high water mark of 42 assists against Union tied a season-high, and then went on to post 15 assists at West Florida and 34 against West Georgia. Baker also had a double-double against Union (42 assists, 17 digs) and West Georgia (34 assists, 10 digs). Baker has averaged 8.03 assists per set this season, good for fifth on the roster.
 
THE ROAD AHEAD: UAH is in its final week of an eight-game road swing, as they play Trevecca Nazarene on Tuesday and then head to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to participate in the Henderson State Invitational this upcoming weekend. The Chargers will play Southeastern Oklahoma State, Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist in the invitational.
 
ABOUT THE TROJANS: Trevecca Nazarene enters the week with a 12-8 overall record and 4-1 within the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The Trojans won two games against Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins College this past weekend. Katelyn Atkinson leads the Trojans offense with 306 kills, while Loren Bennett has a team-high 670 assists and is third on the roster with 163 digs.
 
MATCHUP HISTORY: The Chargers own an 11-2-0 all-time series record against the Trojans. UAH and Trevecca Nazarene matched up earlier this season in the Huntsville Marriott UAH Classic, which resulted in a four-set win for the Chargers. Olivia Bauman, Haley Snyder  and Johnson all notched 10 or more kills in the victory.
