About the Chargers

  • After a weekend where Conner McCain batted .500 (6-12) in a sweep at Valdosta State, the senior outfielder is second on the team with a .356 batting average. McCain is 8-16 (.500) with seven RBI and nine runs scored in the month of April.
  • Starting left-handers Tyler Howell and Drew Eiland have been work horses for the Chargers' pitching staff this season as both are 6-1 with an ERA lower than 2.50. Howell and Eiland are both in the top-10 in innings pitched in conference play as both have put in five or more innings of work in every start.
  • The Chargers registered two home runs over the weekend to give UAH a conference-best 25 home runs this season, which is 13 more than the Delta State and West Florida, who are tied for second. Three players rank in the top five in homers while Blake Massey tops the conference with eight. Massey and Colton Simbeck are the only teammates in the GSC with at least five home runs.
  • When the Chargers have a lead after the sixth inning they've shown the ability to close as UAH is 26-3 when leading after the sixth frame.

About Montevallo

  • Montevallo boasts a 22-16 record this season while splitting its previous series with Francis Marion. The Falcons are 9-8 on the road this season and will play Stillman at home tonight before their contest with the Chargers.
  • Five different players are hitting above .300 for the Falcons as Vinny Rodriguez is leading the team with a .374 average from the plate while Jackson Slaid has registered a team-best nine home runs and 45 RBI.
  • The Chargers will look to take advantage of a Montevallo pitching staff that has an overall ERA above 6.00. Alex Pondick leads the staff with 10 starts on the mound with a 4-3 record and a 5.91 ERA.

Series History

Despite a 5-2 setback at Montevallo earlier this season, the Chargers still hold a 28-25 edge in the all-time series.
