McCain's Walk-Off Home Run Lifts Chargers Past UNA

Box Score
BIRMINGHAM | A walk-off home run by senior Conner McCain in the bottom of the 12th inning with two outs propelled the 2nd-seeded UAH baseball team to a 3-2 victory over No. 7 seed North Alabama Friday afternoon at Young Memorial Field on day one of the 2014 GSC Championships.

McCain sent a bomb to left field with a 1-1 count to give the Chargers the victory, and paced UAH with a season-high four hits and two RBIs. Teammate Blake Massey chipped in with an RBI and a hit while Cody Burton finished the day with two hits in the lead-off spot.

Luke Mould registered the victory to improve to 4-0, putting in a season-high four innings and allowing only three hits and not allowing a single run. Left-hander Drew Eiland pitched a solid eight innings despite not factoring into the decision, allowing two earned runs on five hits.

The Chargers will move on to play No. 3 seed West Florida tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Young Memorial Field. UAH took two out of three earlier this season at Charger Park.
