MATCHUP OF THE WEEK: "The Road to Cary" blog has earmarked the Chargers and Lions matchup this weekend as the featured series of the week. Kyle Schwerin says of the series, "The UAH and UNA matchup this weekend is a sizable tilt down in the Gulf South Conference, with ramifications that should be seen come the end of year regional tournament rankings."

POLLING PLACE: UAH dropped a few slots in each poll this week after a series loss to Delta State, topping out at a No. 6 ranking by Perfect Game. Collegiate Baseball Newspaper kept UAH in the top 10 at No. 10, followed by D2BaseballNews.com at No. 11 and the NCBWA at No. 16. UAH has been the highest ranked GSC program since the beginning of the season.

BATS SET RECORD: The Chargers had one midweek doubleheader on the slate this week, and UAH drubbed Lincoln Memorial in consecutive games by scores of 29-13 and 14-2. The Blue and White matched the program's overall run total record and set the mark for runs in an away game, while breaking the program record with 29 RBI in the opening matchup.

HAVE A DAY: Senior
Ryan Barnes had a spectacular showing at the plate at Lincoln Memorial, batting .600 (6-for-10) with seven runs scored, 10 RBI, three homers and one double. He extended his hitting streak to nine games and is hitting .390 on the season. Barnes is now tied for the team lead in RBI (24) and batting average, which are marks that rank seventh and eighth, respectively, in the GSC.

OFFENSE PACING: The Chargers boast the second highest batting average (.317) in the conference, thanks to seven regulars batting above .300. Burton and Barnes lead the way at .390, followed by
Chandler Brock (.346),
Tanner Cimo (.343) and
Trey Mathis (.325) in the top five for UAH. The Chargers' batting average this season ranks 43rd in the nation.

LOOKING AHEAD: UAH has a bevy of games in the upcoming week after the UNA series, with six games currently on the slate including five home contests. The Chargers will begin the week's games at Miles on Monday, followed by Miles visiting Charger Park for a doubleheader on Tuesday. UAH will then look ahead to a three-game set at home against Valdosta State on Saturday and Sunday.

MATCHUP HISTORY: The Blue and White own a 33-27 all-time series record against UNA, following a series win for UAH in the 2014 campaign at Charger Park. The Chargers are 3-3 against the Lions over the past two seasons.

LIONS PROFILE: North Alabama enters the weekend with a 21-5 overall record and a 10-4 mark in league games, while currently riding an eight-game win streak. Last weekend, UNA swept Union in a three-game series and during the week defeated Spring Hill in both games of a doubleheader. The Lions bat a collective .301, led by Dylan Calhoun (.416, 18 RBI) and Jake Smith (.365, 16 RBI). The pitching staff boasts a team ERA of 3.06, with six regular pitchers tossing sub-3.00 ERAs. Â
