FINAL HOMESTAND: The UAH men's soccer team returns home for its last pair of home games of the regular season this weekend when the team welcomes Shorter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Lee on Sunday afternoon at 1:30. The Chargers go into the games at 3-8-0 (1-3-0 GSC).
Â
RECAPPING LAST WEEK: The Chargers went on the road last week and fell in a pair of one-goal setbacks, dropping a 3-2 decision at Union and falling 2-1 in double overtime at Christian Brothers.
Â
SENIOR DAY: The Chargers will honor the program's three seniors –
Hermann Bjornsson,
Ian Dempsey, and
Nathan Strouth – prior to the game on Sunday. In 54 games with the Chargers, Bjornsson has scored 17 times and added 10 assists, and five of his goals have been game-winning strikes. Strouth has appeared in 40 contests during his four years in Huntsville, and he has particularly excelled this year in a shift to a defensive position. After transferring back to his hometown from Presbyterian, Dempsey has played in 34 contests and scored two goals and an assist, and last season he aided the Chargers in ranking second in the GSC in goals allowed.
Â
NARKE'S CONTINUED SUCCESS: Junior
James Narke added two more goals in the Union game last year, and UAH's scoring leader now ranks tied for fourth in the GSC with six goals and his 12 points is tied for sixth in the league.
Â
ABOUT SHORTER: The Hawks visit the Rocket City on Friday with a 4-4-1 record and a strong 3-0-1 mark in conference play. Darwin Lom is pacing Shorter offensively, scoring eight times and adding two assists.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: The brief all-time series with Shorter tilts slightly toward Friday's visitors as the Hawks are 5-4-0 against UAH. Last season in Rome,
Guy Clennett scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory for the Chargers.
Â
ABOUT LEE: The Flames enter play this weekend with an overall 8-4-0 mark and a 3-1-0 record in conference play. David Perez has been terrific for the Flames, scoring seven times and adding six assists.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: Lee is 4-2-0 all-time against the Chargers, and the Flames were the victors last season when they claimed a 5-1 decision in Cleveland.
