UAH Set To Host Inaugural Men’s Lacrosse Game Sunday

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team will play its inaugural game on Sunday, welcoming Brevard to Charger Park for an 11 a.m. contest. The Chargers will become the first Division II school in Alabama to play a men's lacrosse game.

UAH is under the direction of head coach Connor McGowan who came to the Rocket City from Birmingham-Southern where he was an assistant, and McGowan will be helped on the UAH sideline in this debut campaign for the program by Mike Tyrrell who was previously at Tampa where he was a member of that school's inaugural team.

The UAH lineup features seven players from the state of Alabama and also includes players from 11 other states: California, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

The inaugural season's slate features four other home games as the Chargers will welcome Ohio Valley on March 9 before entertaining CSU-Pueblo on March 26. Young Harris visits the Rocket City on April 9, and UAH's home calendar concludes with an April 16 contest with Lees-McRae.

Brevard travels to Huntsville with an 0-2 record, falling 15-7 to No. 14 Pfeiffer in the season opener and dropping a 15-6 decision to Mt. Olive in its most recent contest. Anthony Alfonso has scored a team-best five goals while also adding a pair of assists.
