ANOTHER NON-CONFERENCE TILT: The UAH men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday when the squad welcomes King as part of its season-opening span of seven home games out of its first nine. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Charger Park with UAH looking for its first win of the season.
Â
TOUGH SLATE: UAH's start to the season has been dominated by strong sides as three of the four opponents have been featured in the NSCAA Top 25 at some point this season, and the Chargers fought now-No. 2 Lynn and now-No. 24 Montevallo valiantly, falling to both 2-1 in double overtime.
Â
GENERATING CHANCES: UAH has earned 21 corners to the opposition's 14 for an average of 5.25 per game. The Chargers presently are tied for second in the GSC in corners with Delta State.
Â
MINUTES LEADER: Other than nine minutes in UAH's first game of the season against Trevecca Nazarene,
Gunnar Birgisson has played each minute for the Blue and White to total 374 minutes on the season.
Thomas Perez and
Corentin Diverres are close behind with 366 and 362, respectively.
Â
ABOUT KING: The Tornado is 2-2 on the season after dropping its first two contests and then knocking off Mars Hill and Emmanuel. Leading a team that is scoring just over two goals per game, Eli Carrasco and Nick Boegemann are on top of the King offensive ledger with two goals each, and Faber Bickerstaffe matches their point total with four on a goal and two assists. Kari Sveinsson has played three of the four matches in goal, going 1-2 with a 3.33 goals against average.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers are 4-1-0 all-time against King, but the two programs have not met since the 1986 season. One of UAH's top performances in program history came in the first meeting between the two when the Chargers won 16-0 in 1980.
