WEEKEND AHEAD: The Chargers (21-23, 14-16 GSC) head to Livingston, Alabama, for their final action of the 2017 regular season as the squad takes on West Alabama (30-16, 19-10 GSC) in a three-game Gulf South Conference series with a single game Friday at 4 p.m. followed by a doubleheader Saturday at 2 p.m. The series was originally scheduled for Saturday-Sunday, but inclement weather in Sunday's forecast caused the alteration.

RECENT ACTION: UAH wrapped up its regular season home slate this past weekend against Union, and the Chargers came away with a 7-0 win and a pair of losses by scores of 6-5 and 13-0. The Blue & White now hold a 21-23 overall record and a 14-16 mark within the GSC, good for eighth in the league standings.

STELLAR SOUTHPAW: Senior Will Myers nabbed his second GSC Pitcher of the Week award this season after hurling 7.0 shutout innings with 11 strikeouts and just two hits allowed in the 7-0 win over Union this past Sunday. Myers enters the week ranked first in GSC games with 74 strikeouts and a .157 batting average, and he's now positioned himself to finish in the top three in program history with a .212 batting average against, four shutouts, and 165 strikeouts in his career at UAH.

MAINTAINING OFFENSE: The Chargers have totaled 10 or more hits in seven of the past nine contests, giving the squad a grand total of 19 games in the 2017 season with double-digit base hits. UAH boasts a total of seven regulars in the lineup batting above .300, paced by Nolan Ramsey (.360), Tanner Burns (.329) and Ben Rhodes (.325) in the top three on the roster.

POWER POSITION:  UAH has posted a total of 29 home runs this season, and the Chargers have been led by Ben Rhodes (8 HR) and AJ Walden (11 HR) with a combined 19 homers in 2017. Rhodes eight home runs are a career-high for the junior, while Walden has smacked at least 10 round-trippers in a season three times and ranks first in GSC games with 10 home runs.

WARMING UP: Jake Bracewell has enjoyed three consecutive successful starts out of the UAH bullpen, as the right-hander has allowed just one run over his past 9.1 innings on the mound in addition to nine strikeouts. Bracewell's most recent stint on the mound was 4.0 shutout innings in game one on Sunday against Union, which was his 15th appearance out of the bullpen.

LOOKING AHEAD: Following this weekend's results, the top eight teams in the conference look ahead to the 2017 GSC Tournament at the top seed's campus from May 6-9 in a new pool play format. Entering this weekend's slate, Delta State (23-7 GSC) leads the conference followed by North Alabama (21-9), West Alabama (19-10), Union (17-12), Valdosta State (17-13), West Florida (15-14), Mississippi College (14-15) and UAH (14-16) in the top eight.

TIGERS PROFILE: West Alabama enters the weekend with a 30-16 overall record and a 19-10 mark in conference play, after a nonconference loss at Auburn Montgomery on Tuesday and a pair of wins over West Georgia this past weekend. The Tigers offense this season has been led by Luke Phillips (.337 BA/42 RBI) and Nick Delgado (.368/53 R), while the UWA pitching staff boasts two starters with sub-3.00 ERAs in Seth Holbert (2.45 ERA/47.2 IP) and Cole Waites (2.51 ERA/43.0 IP).

MATCHUP HISTORY: UAH is 39-29 all-time against West Alabama, with the Chargers earning the last matchup by a 4-3 final in the 2016 GSC Tournament on May 9 in Pensacola, Florida.
