ONE MORE TIME: The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team will close out the 2017-18 campaign on Thursday night, welcoming Montevallo for a 7:30 p.m. tilt at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers enter the contest at 15-12 (8-11 Gulf South Conference).
Â
LAST TIME OUT: The Chargers picked up a victory on Senior Day, defeating Mississippi College 87-74 in the final Saturday home game for UAH's seniors.
Seth Swalve led the Chargers in the game with 23 points while also handing out eight assists.
Â
STREAK CONTINUES: UAH will finish the year with a winning record, extending the program's streak to 10 seasons finishing above .500, and the team has won 15 games or more during each of those 10 campaigns.
Â
AT THE STRIPE: Senior
Kip Owens has turned in yet another solid season, averaging more than 12 points per game this year thanks in part to a terrific showing at the free throw line where he is 75-for-81 for 92.6 percent which ranks fifth in the country and tops in the GSC.
Â
STRONG DEBUT: Freshman
Seth Swalve is set to be the first freshman since
Justin Ward in the 2014-15 season to rank in the top five in scoring on a UAH team as he enters the game fourth with 10.0 points per contest. Should he end the year averaging double figures, he would be the first Charger freshman since the 2012-13 to do so.
Â
ABOUT MONTEVALLO: The Falcons visit Huntsville at 15-13 overall and 10-9 in league play, and the team is 5-5 in road games on the year. Jamaar Taylor is averaging 23.9 points per contest to lead UM, while Julio Guity has grabbed nearly nine rebounds per game to pace the squad on the glass.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: Montevallo slipped ahead of the Chargers in the all-time series by a 36-35 margin when the Falcons were 80-56 winners earlier this year in Montevallo. Swalve had 15 points in the game to lead UAH.
