UAH Set to Start GSC Slate at Auburn Montgomery Friday and Saturday

UPCOMING WEEKEND: UAH jumps into Gulf South Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Auburn Montgomery beginning with a single game Friday at 6 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday with a 2 p.m. start time. This will be the first GSC games between UAH and AUM, as the War Hawks are in their first full year as conference members.
 
RECENT ACTION: The Blue & White have won three straight games for their first winning streak of the season after sweeping Anderson in doubleheader last Saturday in Emerson, Georgia, by scores of 9-5 and 8-6. UAH is now 3-3 overall entering the GSC slate.
 
GSC PLAY IN 2017: The Chargers garnered their ninth consecutive berth to the GSC tournament last season after a 15-18 record in the 2017 league slate, as UAH won two games in the tournament over Valdosta State and Union while losing once to eventual-GSC Champion Delta State.
 
STREAK CONTINUES: Freshman Brooks Brophy picked up the first win of his collegiate career in game two of the doubleheader against Anderson, as the right-hander threw 3.0 scoreless innings of relief with one hit allowed, zero walks and two strikeouts. Entering the weekend, Brophy has not allowed a run in 9.2 innings of work while posting six strikeouts and holding the opposition to a .121 batting average.
 
DRIVING FORCE: AJ Walden has had strong performances at the plate in his last four games, going 8-for-17 with three runs scored, one double, two homers and 13 RBI. Heading into the series at AUM, Walden is tied for seventh in the GSC with 13 RBI while playing in five less game than the league-leading Cade Marlowe from West Georgia with 21 RBI.
 
WAR HAWKS PROFILE: Auburn Montgomery enters the three-game set on a three-game win streak that has the team with a 6-2 overall record, after most recently winning two games against Tuskegee last weekend. The AUM offense is led by Nathan Langley with a team-high 14 hits, nine runs scored and five RBI, while Hank Scott leads the War Hawks rotation with a 1.50 ERA over 18.0 innings pitched.
 
SERIES HISTORY: UAH is 10-4 all-time against Auburn Montgomery, with AUM winning the most recent matchup last season in Montgomery on March 29 by a score of 12-6.
