SCHEDULE ALTERED: Due to inclement weather expected this weekend, UAH (0-2) and Kentucky Wesleyan (0-0) agreed to move the series up a day to a Friday doubleheader at noon followed by a single game Saturday which is tentatively scheduled for noon.

RECENT ACTION: UAH was dealt a pair of losses in the season-opening doubleheader last Saturday against Saint Leo, as the Lions won both matchups by scores of 7-4 and 6-4. UAH boasted three players with batting averages of above .330 during the rain-truncated weekend series.

Hunter Royer received a pair of strong relief outings in each game of the doubleheader, as
Brooks Brophy worked 4.0 shutout innings with two hits allowed and two strikeouts in game one followed by 3.1 scoreless frames by
Dylan Murphy with three hits and a pair of strikeouts.

LEADING THE WAY: Jay Copeland paced the Chargers at the plate against Saint Leo, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one RBI, a walk and was also hit by a pitch. Amongst players with at least five at-bats, Copeland's .800 batting average leads the GSC after one weekend of play.

LOOKING AHEAD: The Chargers continue the 2018 season at home next weekend for another nonconference series at Charger Park against Anderson on Feb. 17-18, prior to the start of Gulf South Conference play at Auburn Montgomery on Feb. 23-24.

PANTHERS PROFILE: Kentucky Wesleyan will be opening its 2018 campaign this Friday and Saturday at Charger Park, following a 2017 season in which the Panthers went 29-24 overall and 12-8 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. The Panthers return their top two offensive performers from last season in Cody Bridges (.335, 7 2B, 34 RBI) and Andrew Kirkland (.333, 7 HR, 37 RBI). KWC additionally returns its top starter a year ago in Ryan Hundley who had a rotation-high 85.1 innings pitched and a 3.59 ERA.

SERIES HISTORY: UAH boasts a 15-1 record in the all-time series against Kentucky Wesleyan. The two teams last matched up in the 2009 season in a four-game series in Huntsville, as UAH won all four matchups on Feb. 14-15.
