UAH Welcomes Miles for Doubleheader Wednesday, Hits the Road to VSU this Weekend

UPCOMING WEEK: UAH (8-5, 4-2 GSC) is set for a total of five games this week beginning with a nonconference doubleheader against Miles (7-10) on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Charger Park prior to hitting the road to Valdosta State (7-11, 1-5 GSC) for a three-game Gulf South Conference series on Saturday and Sunday.
 
TIME CHANGE: The doubleheader on Wednesday was originally slated for 3 p.m., but UAH and Miles agreed to move up first pitch for game one of the doubleheader to 1 p.m.
 
RECENT ACTION: The Chargers hosted their first GSC series of the season at Charger Park over the weekend against Montevallo, with the two teams splitting the Saturday doubleheader before the Falcons took the series finale on Sunday. UAH is now 8-5 overall in 2018 and 4-2 within the league slate.
 
LEADING THE WAY: After a pair of three-hit performances in the weekend series against Montevallo, Brady Bedingfield boasts a team-high .462 batting average, .731 slugging percentage and .588 on-base percentage to go along with one double, two homers and seven RBI in 11 games. Bedingfield's .462 batting average is third in the conference entering the week.
 
BOASTING BULLPEN: The Chargers boast a trio of relievers with at least three appearances and ERAs under 1.00, which includes Brooks Brophy (15.2 IP, 0.57 ERA), Dylan Murphy (9.1 IP, 0.57 ERA), and Dustin Sharp (0.00 ERA, 4.0 IP) who have combined for 33 strikeouts in their time on the mound. Entering the week, Brophy ranks tied for second in the conference with four wins already this season, while Murphy has posted four saves for a tie for first in the GSC.
 
GOLDEN BEARS PROFILE: Miles begins this week with a 7-10 overall record after most recently winning both games of a doubleheader on Saturday against Concordia College-Alabama. The Golden Bears offense is led by Kolby Brannon with a .368 batting average and 10 RBI, while MC's pitching staff owns a 7.64 team ERA.
 
SERIES HISTORY: UAH is 20-0 all-time against Miles.
 
BLAZERS PROFILE: Valdosta State opens this week's slate with a 7-11 overall record and 1-5 mark in conference play following two losses and a win at West Alabama this past weekend. Luke Suchon leads the Blazers offense with a .432 batting average and 10 RBI, while VSU's pitching staff owns a 4.15 ERA as a team.
 
SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers are 34-33 all-time against the Blazers.
