UAH Records One Program Record and One National Mark at Samford Open

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's and women's track & field teams continued their 2019 indoor campaign at the Samford Open on Friday and Saturday.
 
Women's Notables
- Erin Jewell broke the program record in the shot put with a hurl of 12.84 meters, topping the previous mark of 12.70 meters set by Elisa Baskin on Jan. 18, 2013.
- Jania Williams had a personal best in the 60 meter with a time of 7.93, finishing 19th in the second round of the event. Williams additionally registered a personal best in the 200 meter with a 13th-place time of 25.48.
- Angel Mobley earned second overall in the 5000 meter with a time of 17:57.42.
- Jade Johnson came within .01 meters of the program record in the high jump with a mark of 1.65 meters for second place in the event.
 
Men's Notables
- Trevian Jenkins clocked in at 21.68 in the 200 meter for fifth place in the event, as the senior topped the NCAA provisional standard of 21.74. Jenkins time was also a personal best.
- Tyrique Davis-Giles also notched a personal best in the 200 meter with an eight-place time of 22.02.
- Hunter Hill's toss of 12.92 meters in the weight throw was a personal best, improving from 12.54 meters at the KMS Invitational on Jan. 27.
- Jay Day had a pair of personal bests in the 800 meter (1:56.04) with a fifth-place performance and in the one mile (4:20.81) in a second-place performance.
