BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference announced its Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for performances recorded March 30 through April 5 on Wednesday and UAH's
Tamsyn Gibbs and Ahmed Ibrahim garnered weekly honors.
Gibbs earned the Women's Track Athlete of the Week honor after posting a personal-best and school-record time of 10:45.49 in the 3000m steeplechase at the Mike Fanelli Classic. The NCAA provisional qualifying mark placed her third at the event. Gibbs currently ranks second in the GSC and 10th nationally in Division II in the event.
Ibrahim earned the Men's Track Athlete of the Week award following his performance in the 5000m against Division I competition at the Stanford Invitational. He crossed the line in 13:58.54, earning an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Ibrahim now leads the GSC and ranks fourth nationally in Division II in the event.
