The holidays are always a fun time for me and my family. I have many great memories that center around the holiday season and the various traditions that we celebrate every year. This year, for many of us, will be much different, and it will definitely be a season that we will never forget.
I also have many memories that I cherish of my time with our Charger family. We are truly blessed to get to be around the best student-athletes in the country and watching them do what they love is a gift that some of us did not fully appreciate until it was taken away. As I have talked with our coaches over the past few weeks, we all agreed that every game that we get to play is a gift, and we are so grateful to be able to do what we love with people that we love.
This season will be different. People enjoying family time via a screen is something that we never would have imagined. Giving someone a mask or hand sanitizer as a stocking stuffer in any other year would be the equivalent of a lump of coal. 2020 will be a memory that will, hopefully, be unmatched.
Some things remain the same. Family, friends, and being with the ones we love are things to be cherished. Finding joy in giving rather than receiving is a great blessing. Reaching out to someone who may be lonely can brighten their day. Reminiscing on holiday traditions of the past and remembering loved ones who are no longer with us helps to keep their memory alive.
I hope you have a great holiday season and we cannot wait to see you at a Charger event in the future. Until then, stay safe and go Chargers!
