From the AD's Desk: An Update from Dr. Cade Smith

Dear Charger Fans,

I hope this finds you well, and I pray that you have continued health as we attempt to navigate this pandemic.

It has been a tough six months without practice or competition, and we have missed seeing you at our events. I am encouraged by the fact that we have been able to renew our practices, and we are hosting a cross country meet on September 19 at John Hunt Park.

We were disappointed to learn of more postponements of most of our activities until January. We still do not know what our schedules will look like for the majority of our sports, but we will communicate that once we have received the final confirmations.

Our country is experiencing a lot of things right now which, in many ways, has allowed me to reconsider my priorities. Social justice issues and polarizing political agendas have created an environment that is difficult to comprehend and even harder to explain. People are worried about day to day activities and are unsure of their futures.

However, having been around our student-athletes upon their return to campus, I am confident that this generation can change the world. The setbacks that these young men and women have faced are difficult, but the manner in which they have handled the adversity gives me great hope about our future.

You should be proud to be a Charger Fan because you are fans of some of the finest young people on the planet.

As always, your support has been outstanding and we could not do what we do without each and every one of you. Regardless of your involvement of the amount of your donation, you are important and we appreciate you, and we cannot wait to see you!

Go Chargers!
