As we enter into our next seasons of competition, I wanted to highlight some accomplishments from the fall. Both of our cross country teams have had tremendous campaigns. Our men’s team won their third straight Gulf South Conference championship and have qualified for the NCAA Championships later this month. Our women placed well at conference and had a runner qualify for the NCAA meet as well.
Both soccer teams had successful, competitive seasons in the Gulf South Conference, and they have a lot of momentum heading into the off-season. Our volleyball team is currently second in the conference and poised to make a run into the postseason as well. Congratulations to our fall teams and best of luck to those who are still competing!
Our basketball teams recently began their seasons as well and our first home events are coming up soon. The women tip off the home slate on November 18, and the men have a stretch of four homes games in five days leading into Thanksgiving. We are extremely excited about both of these teams and cannot wait to watch them at home in our normal game experience. The pep band has already made some appearances at some of our fall events, and I know they are ready to rock out in Spragins Hall. We do still have some season tickets available and I hope you will be able to come to a game soon.
While some things remain the same, there are some new things which we are excited about as well. We have a number of new staff members and we hope you will get a chance to meet them soon and welcome them to the Charger family.
Thank you all for the support that you continue to show. It makes a difference in our department, and you can be sure that the young people that you are supporting are some of the best student-athletes in the country. Their work ethic both on and off the court as well as their willingness to serve in our community is what makes them special. We are proud to be Huntsville’s Team and we want to continue to Make it Matter in all that we do!
