BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The 2021 Gulf South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships were held on Wednesday at the Birmingham CrossPlex, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville finished second overall on the men's side and third on the women's side.

Men's Notables

Zach Hancock generated a pair of individual GSC championships with first-place performances in both the shot put (17.22 meters) and the weight throw (18.80 meters).
-The Chargers recorded the top two heights in the pole vault on Wednesday, as
Garrison Hill won the event at 4.75 meters followed by
Ryan Collins in second at 4.60 meters.

Wilson McClain garnered first overall in 60 meter hurdles for the second straight season after clinching the GSC individual championship with a time of 8.14.

Cameron Clark won the high jump at a height of 1.85 meters for a GSC individual championship.

Alex Herbst led the way for the Chargers in second place in the 5000 meter with a time of 14:38.20, followed by
Harold Lacroix in third place at a time of 14:44.62.
-UAH's distance medley relay squad garnered first place with a time of 10:30.91.
-The UAH men also had third-place finishes by
Bailey Herfurth in the 800 meter (1:55.83) and
Hunter Nails in the mile (4:19.22).

Women's Notables

Ann Hampton broke the program record and the GSC indoor championships record in the pole vault with an individual title in the event with a height of 3.55 meters.

Kaylee Stewart broke the program record in the 5000 meter with a time of 17:17.95 for fourth place overall. Her time on Wednesday tops the previous record of 17:18.78 set by Jennifer Cherono in the 2010 season and also the NCAA provisional standard of 17:25.97.
-Stewart additionally notched a program record in the 3000 meter with a second-place time of 9:55.50, breaking the record she set of 10:02.44 on Jan. 16 this season. Her time in the 3000 meter additionally topped the NCAA provisional mark of 9:57.72.
-UAH took the top three spots in the pole vault, with Hampton winning at 3.55 meters followed by
Emee Baldwin in second at 3.25 meters and
Lauren Hamm in third at 3.10 meters.

Zakiria Holifield placed second overall in the 200 meter with a time of 25.44.
-The Chargers women's squad also featured third-place performances by
Nikki Mata in the 400 meter (59.21),
Erin Cannon in the 800 meter (2:22.17) and
Hannah Grant in the weight throw (14.60 meters).
