HUNTSVILLE | The NCAA Division II Baseball Committee has unveiled its first rankings for the team's under consideration for the 2021 Baseball South Regional, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville is ranked No. 4 ahead of Sunday night's selection show.

In the previous two regional polls, teams under consideration were unranked and released alphabetically.

Members of the Gulf South Conference, Sunshine State Conference, and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference that are competing this spring comprise the South Region.

The GSC has five teams in the top six of the rankings, including West Florida at No. 1, Lee at No. 2, UAH at No. 4, Delta State at No. 5 and Shorter at No. 6. Tampa, an SSC member, is ranked No. 3.

The Chargers own a 22-18 record against Division II opponents in the 2021 season, as UAH most recently wrapped up play at the GSC tournament where the squad reached the semifinals.

The NCAA South Regional will consist of six teams in the 2021 season and will be held on the campus of West Florida from May 27-30. Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, the championship site was predetermined prior to regional rankings.
