Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team picked up a nonconference victory against Tennessee Southern by a final score of 12-7 on the road Wednesday evening. UAH improves to 8-15, while UTS slips to 7-13.

Daniel McCary led the Charger offense on the night with a grand slam, a solo homerun, and a double against the Firehawks for a five RBI performance.

Kody Keiser made his seventh start on the mound for the Chargers this season, as the left-hander turned in two innings of work, allowing one run on two hits while picking up two strikeouts.

UAH used five relievers en route to picking up the victory.

After a scoreless first inning to start the contest, UAH pulled ahead with a grand slam from McCary in the top of the second to take the first lead at 4-0.

The Chargers expanded the lead in the top of the third to 8-1 after another four-run inning highlighted by back-to-back homers from
Jeff Hunter and
Garrett Bodine, but the Firehawks would strike back with five runs in the bottom half of the third to slim their deficit to two.

After the Chargers notched three more runs, Tennessee Southern scored one in the bottom of the sixth, making the UAH lead show 11-7.

UAH went on to score once in the seventh after McCary hit his second homerun of the game, a solo shot to left field, to bring the game to its 12-7 final score.

The Chargers now look ahead to a three-game conference series against in-state opponent Auburn Montgomery this Friday and Saturday on the road. Friday's contest is set for 5 p.m., with Saturday's double header scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
